WHY CEYLON TEA?

Ceylon Tea is prized around the world for its exceptional quality. The humidity, cooler temperatures and rainfall in the central region of Sri Lanka provide the perfect climate for producing some of the finest teas available using the orthodox tea manufacturing process.

THE TEA GROWING REGIONS OF CEYLON

The specialty of Ceylon Tea lies in its cultivation across three different elevations: Low Grown (sea level to 2,000 feet), Medium Grown (2,000 to 4,000 feet) and High Grown (4,000 feet and above). These varying elevations, combined with Sri Lanka’s seven different agro-climatic regions, produce teas with unique tastes and characteristics. Handpicked with care, Ceylon Tea is also the only tea in the world certified as Ozone Friendly, ensuring a sustainable and eco-conscious production process. 

OUR APPROACH TO PRODUCTION

Finlays Colombo is one of Sri Lanka’s largest tea suppliers. It uses advanced technology to maintain efficiency and precision in processing and packaging tea. With regular enhancements to its facilities, Finlays Colombo ensures the highest standards of quality and can produce up to 400 teabags per minute and meet global demand with expertly crafted blends.

OUR FULLY AUTOMATED PACKING FACILITY

To maintain the highest standards of hygiene and product integrity, Finlays Colombo operates a fully automated packing facility equipped with the latest technology. In its continuous effort to improve quality, the Company has also integrated colour sorters into its production line, ensuring superior tea grading and consistency.

Sustainability is at the core of Finlays Colombo’s operations. To reduce environmental impact, the Company has installed solar powered electricity systems in its production facility, contributing to a carbon-free environment.

FINLAYS COLOMBO - LABORATORY FACILITY AND CERTIFICATIONS

Finlays Colombo upholds the highest product quality standards through a robust Quality and Food Safety (QFS) strategy. This includes stringent quality assurance, continuous staff training, internal audits and compliance with key certifications. Finlays Colombo’s ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory ensures precise chemical and microbiological analysis, reinforcing it’s commitment to excellence.

Haldummulla– GREEN TEA FACILITY

Finlays Colombo’s Green Tea facility in Haldummulla which was established in 1993, stands as one of Sri Lanka’s pioneering Green Tea manufacturing sites. Nestled 1,000 meters above sea level in the Uva Province, this facility blends tradition with innovation to craft high quality Japanese-style steamed and Chinese-style pan fired Green Tea.

Committed to excellence, the Haldummulla Green Tea facility is certified for organic production under EEC2092/1, JAS and NOP standards. With an annual capacity of 400 to 500 metric tons, it continues to elevate Ceylon Green Tea to global prominence while embracing sustainability and innovation.
