Logistics

Every Finlays’ farm is complemented by modern packing and cooling facilities to ensure finished bouquets are cooled to specified temperatures for transport to a range of international markets.

Fresh flowers are transported daily to Nairobi and flown overnight to Europe, the Middle-East and the United States where strict quality control procedures ensure that the flowers reach our customers in pristine condition to meet the guaranteed vase life requirements for each variety.

After processing and packing on our farms the flowers are transported by refrigerated trucks to Skytrain, a Finlays company which has a dedicated export hub located at Nairobi airport and loaded each night onto freighters bound for the UK and other international markets. Skytrain uses passenger flights as appropriate for flexibility and is actively developing sea freight options as much as possible.

Once in the UK or Germany the flowers are delivered through the integrated cold chain to our production facilities in for conditioning and quality control.

Computer-controlled stock and production management mean that the flexible production lines create over a million bouquets weekly, including direct mail bouquets ordered on-line.
